Hi Ya Bookcasers,
It’s funny how life can throw you curve balls, isn’t it? You’re just living your life, doing your own thing, and then boom…life jolts in another direction. I had a minor version of this lately: my wedding ceremony venue fell through and now we have a 5 month rush to find our next place. My instant thought was panic-ridden. However, after a week or two of deliberating, my partner and I decided to open our minds and look at alternative styles of weddings. This in turn made me thinking about my writing life and books. Did I really write with an open mind, or have I just been writing in the same old rut? Let’s see… Continue reading Writing with an open mind
Hi Ya Bookcasers! I hope that May is treating you well! Today, I want to share with you my favorite five book covers! These are from no particular years; they’re just the ones I like. What are your favorites? Continue reading My favorite book covers…
I recently finished The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary by Simon Winchester, and I’m quite sure I need my own Oxford English Dictionary. The nonfiction account documents how the OED was born, the life of one of its most prominent editors, Professor James […]
Hi YaBookcasers,
You might have noticed that this month I’ve skipped a few posts. It’s not because I didn’t have time to write one, or that I didn’t have anything to say. It’s because it was time to have a little self-care. And that’s exactly what I want to talk about today! Continue reading Writing & self-care
Hey YABookcasers!
Today, I’d like to look at big story ideas. You know, the ones that you think of and think of and think of…but don’t write. That cool, awesome big story that has an amazing world, dynamic characters, a killer plot, but yet, you’re still not putting fingers to keyboard. So why not? Continue reading Big story ideas & what to do with them
So excited to be a part of TeenPit! Looking forward to the revision with a very special mentee!
Hey YABookcasers!
Have you ever had an old story idea that you absolutely love, but can’t quite get the gumption to work on? You love the concept and characters, but something is blocking your progress. Or perhaps you wrote it a long time ago, and now you’re looking at it as this mammoth task of rewriting that needs to be done. Well, never fear, many of us have been there. That’s why, today, I’d like to talk about reviving an old story! Continue reading Reviving an old story
Hi YABookcasers!
Another day, another question about the creative arts. However, it’s actually not that simple, because I’m not just talking about the creative arts. With the passing of the magnificent, unrivaled Stephen Hawkings, it made me want to reaffirm a strong belief of mine: there is a creative process to everything – science, technology, art, writing, business, workmanship, life. Continue reading Creative processes – which one is best?
Hi YABookcasers,
I’ve been talking to some friends lately, and it seems many of them have hit a writerly slump throughout the years (myself included!). I’m not talking about writer’s block. The question that’s got my attention is “Where did all the good ideas go?” Continue reading Where did all the good ideas go?
