Today, I’d like to look at big story ideas. You know, the ones that you think of and think of and think of…but don’t write. That cool, awesome big story that has an amazing world, dynamic characters, a killer plot, but yet, you’re still not putting fingers to keyboard. So why not? Continue reading Big story ideas & what to do with them

Have you ever had an old story idea that you absolutely love, but can’t quite get the gumption to work on? You love the concept and characters, but something is blocking your progress. That’s why, today, I’d like to talk about reviving an old story! Continue reading Reviving an old story
Hi YABookcasers,
I’ve been talking to some friends lately, and it seems many of them have hit a writerly slump throughout the years (myself included!). I’m not talking about writer’s block. The question that’s got my attention is “Where did all the good ideas go?” Continue reading Where did all the good ideas go?

Hi YABookcasers!
So, today, I took a look at my TBR and almost fainted. There are 46 books sitting there, and these are only my “must read asap” books. There are dozens and dozens more that I really want to read after those. The problem is, the minute I finish one great book, another 3 are published, and I simply can’t keep up. Which means reading becomes stressful, as I’m trying to hurry, always chasing my tail! So what to do? Continue reading How to stop your TBR pile from stressing you out!
Hey Ya Bookcasers!
How is January treating you all? It’s sure been a busy one for me, what with editing, and writing, and work. And…fostering the most adorable golden oldie of a German Shepherd. Not only is she the most wonderful little thing in the world…but she’s also a great tool for busting through writer’s block!
Let me tell you how… Continue reading How a dog solved writer’s block

Hey YABookcasers,
Yup, you read the title right – how to make a book out of one word. Now, I don’t mean write just one word down on the page and bam that’s you done. That would be a very short novel indeed. However, I am talking about a way to get around writer’s block, start off a new book, or give you that spark of inspiration to form a plot twist, sub-plot, or new character. Am I crazy for saying it could be spurred by one word? Read on to see if I am! Continue reading How to make a book out of one word
Hi YA Bookcasers!
Audio version:
Welcome to the end of August and the almost-start of October, my favorite month of the year (can anyone say Halloween?). Pitch Wars has just come to an end (if you don’t know what that is, you can find out more here), and while some hopefuls have snagged a mentor, there are some wonderful writers who have missed out. However, that doesn’t mean your chance to build your writing career is gone. Not at all. It means you’ve taken a healthy step in the right direction. Continue reading Not a Pitch Wars mentee?
